Dark Night Rises - Errrr it Sucks!

I don't really fancy Batman, but when all those movies were shown it is a must see. I started watching Batman movies staring Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and now Christian Bale.  It took awhile for this movie to be shown here in UAE, and since it is the Eid holidays, we gave it a try. Nowadays, I don't know much about Hollywood as I sink myself in Asian dramas (Kdrama and Dorama) and Asian Movies. This Batman movie is in my radar especially after a controversy over its reviews on rottentomatoes.com that one movie critique or editor was getting hates so they are holding up the review before the premiere.  I did not read any reviews on rottentomatoes which I usually do before. Taking into account that its a Batman movie with Christopher Nolan in it, it seems promising. I was hesitant actually to watch as I find being apathetic to the victims of the shooting in Colorado. But I've moved on and watched Batman. yay!

Our seats were taken by these kids who would not want to move. Luckily the movie attendants were so firm of letting them move. Honestly kids here in UAE have the least of etiquette inside a movie house. I don't even know why Batman's rating were PG13 and letting children aged 7 years below being admitted at a Batman movie and honestly, I can't blame the kids' restlessness because I was too (its not getting anywhere for 45  minutes). I've not visited theaters that often and they still doesn't change, kids no manners at all, unsupervised.

I don't know if my whole experience of the movie was ruined because of the kids or just the movie sucks altogether. It was like watching a Batman drama, rather than Batman an action movie. They talk to much and this cliche about bombs, nuclear bomb that is, is so overused. Though with a hit of drama in it, like the whole Gotham City will vanish and people raised up to fight, I didn't get the feeling, I was not moved. The whole fight scene with Batman and Bane with the mob is like what? aren't they supposed to have a big time fight? Like glasses shattering, columns collapsing, falling from one floor to another, Batman being hurt and almost a goner to a winner? And no Catwoman-Miranda cat fight?

I am with great people with me, with my favorite Garret's Chicago mix popcorn, and a bubble tea. Even with that combo, I did not enjoy the movie. BOOOO!

There are a lot of expectations that were not met, and of course that's disappointing, no twist, no surprises, bland. I'll just wait for Wednesday for my real hero behind a mask, GAKSITAAAAL!

Strike 2 - Starbucks Dubai Bad Customer Service

I remember when i first gotten into blogging that one of my long entry was about how i got a bad customer service from Starbucks. Now Starbucks us not really my favorite coffee shop, its just that they are everywhere. I got over of that experience and started to patronized it again for its availability.

Got my usual iced Americano at starbucks. I was influenced by Yong and I understand why he loves it so much even that it is bad for his throat condition. This time it was special for I added vanilla syrup which is an additional 5 dirhams. After I finished the jumbo hotdog from fat burger I sipped into my coffee to my hearts content. But only to realized that its 90% ice!

I felt cheated and so I complained. Its not really a complaint but rather informing them that they put a lot of ice (more than the usual that I get every week). And add so I asked if he (the only barista there at that moment that I can speak to) was the one who made my coffee. He answered me coldly, "no" and smirked. Its like the very cold drink that I have because of the grande ice that they gave me instead of just an iced coffee. He forgot ownership. As I worked as a customer service rep, we were always reminded in taking ownership even its not yours because you and your other colleague are part of one company. And the fault of one usually represents the whole company and so taking ownership is important.

I really don't know the standard of Starbucks when it comes to iced coffee but based on my frequent orders of that beverage, I believe that they put more. Now I know that they are just probably tired its 7 in the evening on a Thursday night and there's a lot of people. And they are only three barista. All I wanted is an acknowledgment that indeed they put a hell lot of ice, an apology and even a fake smile will do.

With this experience I will avoid Starbucks for the second time for their bad customer service.

Top 5s #3

I actually have more than 5 I think, but will stick to the title of this post.  My week is packed as usual.  Blessings and answered prayer, left and right.  So without further blah blah, here are my top fives of this week!

  • New bag, new shoes! I love shopping festivals!  And in this part of the globe, it’s the shopping haven ofMiddle East.  From the knock-offs to the most luxurious. DSS officially kicked off.  Although the malls are usually crowded during the weekends (Friday and Saturday in UAE) yesterday was more crowded because it’s a 3-day holidays for us, well at least to those who have Friday and Saturday off.  I’ve gotten myself a new Kipling bag in bright turquoise and red Lacoste snickers. Its 40% off for the bag and 50% off for the shoes.

  • Answered Prayers! One of our dear Sis-in-Christ returned to UAE with all her work documents arranged.  Though it was a long process, still we believe that all work together for good (Rom 8:28).

  • Licensed Architect brother.  I was not that anxious before his exams but found myself anxious waiting for the results. It was released last Thursday.  I was waiting for it and I kept on refreshing PRC’s site.  As my phone rings and that it registered my sister’s number, I knew already that its good news. It is an answered prayer also. :)

  • Surrounded by nice people. This is a treasure. Though we see almost everyday, I never get tired of being with them even up to the mall.  Last Friday, after the church service, we went to City Center.  Its chaotic and its more chaotic in the food court.  Its pass 9pm and still people are not yet done with dinner!  It took us more than 10 minutes to find a place.  The dinner was free and its so nice to have a feeling of a family when you are away from your own.  Putting all those tables together like a long dining table, we prayed and eat 2 buckets of KFC Chicken.  After that we head to shop! The boys got their Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 while we got our shoes at Lacoste with 50% discount!

  • Early Salary.  Got our salary for June! Its so in time with DSS which is rather a bad news if I don't spend it wisely.  The next one will be after more than a month and so its more difficult to budget (as if I do this). haha!

RED? - Its on SALE!

Dubai Summer Surprise or simply DSS is just around the corner and its painting the town red with all the "SALE" banner.  One thing that we can attribute Dubai aside from iconic buildings, desert and camels is Shopping!  Malls are everywhere and the biggest in the world is The Dubai Mall.  DSS will start on 14th but some shops already started.  Now there's pros and  cons for jumping into the sale right away.  Pros - you still can get to get the good ones, and probably you can request for a stock and sales persons are still not grumpy, very accommodating and chummy.  The cons, its still pricey if you will compare to the last days of DSS which is by the way last of a month.

Am I shopaholic? Nah! But I love to shop! I think I got this from my mom.  She once told me that "Sale" is meant to say sa-le in English, "join".  Its like join them in spending money.  It makes a lot of sense, but I don't understand why she  gets in and "joins"!  So far I got a t-shirt from a brand that I want for a longtime, Superdry.  I wish to get one of those shirt with a big number 8 and says "Osaka" but it wasn't on sale, not to mentioned nothing is available for the ladies.  I was about to get the tee for males and just get the smallest size, but again its not on sale and its more than 170 AED.  Just got a Kipling bag in aquamarine I believe that is the color, colors are now complicated and Shaui couldn't agree more.

I still "need" to buy a decent shoes, blue skinny pants, a pastel colored blazer and Samsung Galaxy Note! Just like that, its pass 12 am.

Just one movie and 2 posts! boo! Good night!

Happy Independence Day to all Pinoys! I will put a blog of things I like about being Filipino!  Will wear something "makabayan" tomorrow too!

Missing to Blog

Even when there's a lot of things to blog about, I find no time to post here.  Its saddening that I don't have my final entry for The King 2 Hearts.  It seems that I blog so much about it but failed to post a decent blog about the ending.  I also failed to blog about Yonghwa's appearance in Juniel's (FNC newbie) music video Stupid.  It is so blog worthy because how many times to get to see Yong's biceps? I can say that in just 2 occasions, in a concert that I posted here, and in the music video.

The color again in this music video is so nice, the song is cool, its Colbie Caillat-esque  and so I like it.  This reminds me of Hey You music video and I wonder why CNBLUE did not make another one for Run or Dreamboy and why the promotions for Ear Fun was halted like that.  Which remind me also of ordering CNBLUE's MTV Unplugged!  Uhhhggg! fangirling is never cheap!

I wonder how long will be seeing 'abs'.  By the way, Shaui invented one word that kpop can use, SELCABS (its a selca but focused on the abs! yay!).  Kpop introduced me to a lot of new words (at least to myself).  hehe..

So with this post, you get to see the word "selcabs"!

Thursday is BLOG TIME!

I miss you my blog! My fourth year in our company was marked with a change that I prayed about it.  New office, new people to work with and most to all new boss!  I was happy about it, till some factors made it no fun anymore.  Now I am not going to put up all the details here as I've read news about someone sent to jail because of trashing his/her company.

Its a new environment, with new procedures that  made it so stressful and I don't even have the time to blog. :( sad... sad...sad... My March have a total of 52 posts and now its already the 5th and I don't have much entries, in fact this might be just the second one.

Will be writing a couple of entries, one re: Kdramas and hopefully CNBLUE!

Happy Thursday everyone!

100th Blog Entry

Whoa! I have never dream that this blog will actually work. Work in a sense that first, 100 posts! I created a blog way back 2008, which housed 2 entries one of which is about the feeling of discrimination or simply bad customer service of Starbucks here in Dubai, and the second was my mad reactions to I a hoax news about ABS-CBN one of the big networks in the Philippines is trying to re-create or rather do a drama riff-off of Twilight! My beloved Twilight… back then (chuckle)…that’s a lesson for me. After that I quit blogging. I realized that I do not have much blog worthy idea back then, well maybe until now but what the heck! (laughs)

New Post - mind is loaded with things to post!

I'll be bidding my not so busy day in the office, wherein I could do a virtual staking of CNBLUE, tweet about it and even post in this blog.  There are a lot of things that I want to post in this blog and composing a blog entry in the office is perfect for me.  Nice chair and fast internet connection, besides nothing beats the comfort of working on a desktop.  My laptop at home sits on a breakfast-in-bed-table and under it is small plastic chair.  Yea..yea.. I just cannot throw the acacia wood breakfast-in-bed table that cost about $30.  The beam (I think its called a beam, I'm no carpenter) where the legs are attached to cracked so it would not stand.  Gladly, we have this little plastic chair, that now serves as it legs.

Sorry, I don't know why half of this entry is about the breakfast-in-bed table.  Reading the above is enough to tell that I really love that table that I cannot throw it an even would have a space on this blog.

Anyway the things I want to write about are:

  1. My thoughts about the Flower Boys Ramyun Shop (dunno if I got the title right) and why I even bother to watch it.

  2. Why I don't mind if Kim Soo Hyun would yell at me.

  3. About how impossible to simply google "Your Eyes by Unbekannt  mp3 mediafire" (yes there is a band/singer named like that) and get results.

  4. My own pet peeves re: Kpop and Kdrama but still patronize them

hayz! I got to log out now.  Maybe if I finish all things that I need to do, I'll have time to write those!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Responsible Blogging

Yesterday or the other day, I realized that blogging is not as easy as I thought. Choosing a suitable free theme is already a pain, and this is my 4th theme (I'd rather not pay because there's no way I'll earn with this blog). At first I thought of putting up a blog for my ramblings and sometimes my angst, sometimes you gotta let it out.

As you search online, you will be directed to different blogs. Mind you, some blogs are really useful for someone who loves kdramas, with that in mind, I am somewhat forced to put something ‘useful’ rather than just post my ramblings.

There are several occasions on my blog that I forgot to credit the source of the pictures in my blog, sorry for that. I promise to look up the facts first before posting on my blog, like googling it on the reader’s behalf.

I applaud those who could update their blog and really is a good source of the latest info or pics of our kpop idols.

Happy blogging!

Still not done

I am still not done with my the theme of my blog. I still have to make a decent banner, fix the categories, and familiarize myself with this dashboard as it is a bit complicated. I may wanna study again CSS for better results.

So far, so good

I created this new account I guess around September and just yesterday, I imported my blog from Blogger (sorry) to WordPress. Well I didn't expect that everything will be okay, anyway its importing and no importing nor shifting is smooth. One of the pain that it did was, about the 'Categories' and 'Tags'. My tags on my old blog was tagged as a category. I got a long list going on the left (as I love to tag). Been discovering different features in WordPress (one reason I migrated), although its another pain (learning sometimes is a pain) but I know with a little more of reading I'll come up with the blog settings that I want and concentrate more on things to post.

Happy blogging!

Imported my Blogger to WordPress

Been trying to blog for years. Blogspot seems to be the easiest. Creating a blog is not easy as I thought. I do not want to post senseless post (pardon if I did).

Now I've imported by blogspot to WordPress since it would make my blog more dynamic. The dashboard itself is overwhelming for me (among other things). Hope I can get accustomed to WordPress in no time !

Happy blogging!

In between workloads

Yesterday was the busiest time that I had here at my "new" office. Been here since August but yesterday was the first time that I got so busy.

Now little blog.. see? I am trying to update you between workloads!
